Field of Wild Flowers Bed Quilt

By: Ralph Jones
Field of Wild Flowers Bed Quilt_1

From the Designer: "Each block is 8"x 8" finished. Flowers are assorted colors, hand-sewn, and folded to create the flower. It is a king size quilt. Block making is a 2 sided circle turned inside out, starting with an 8" circle; this can be adjusted to the size you desire. Once turned, zig-zag around the circle close to the edge. Fold to create the flower. Hand stitch to secure the petals and center. I attached the blocks using a finished 2" sash. Border is 3" finished."

How to Make the Field of Wild Flowers Bed Quilt

Instructions:

  1. Make flowers from 8" circle. I used a kitchen pan cover that measured 8" and traced it, with good sides together

  2. Turn inside out and zig-zag edge as close as possible.

  3. Fold in half and stitch at center of folded area, drawing folded area together, and tack in place. Fold again in half and repeat

  4. Fold points turning out to form petals.

  5. Attach petal to a 8 1/2" square block, Hand stitch in center of block.

  6. Stitch blocks together using 2" finished sashes.

I am so glad that I'm not the only that thinks the instructions are poorly done. I think it looks very similar to one I saw in the Fabric Folding book by Rebecca Wat.

Hi laurijo82, this project was submitted by one of our readers, so the only instructions we have available were the ones provided to us. They do appear to be similar to the flowers in Rebecca Wat's book. We apologize for any instructions that are unclear. Thanks!

This makes no sense. The picture doesn't even show what you need to know to make it. Where do you stitch? Can you re-do the directions so there are some specifics? Some close-ups? Please?

This is a Christmas ornament tutorial that is like the flowers in the middle of the block. https//www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwvNU1pGd-Ya == pp=desktop

I don't quite get how to do this. Is there a link to Ralph Jones for this?
