Rainbow Lighthouse Block Pattern
"This pattern for the Rainbow Lighthouse Block Pattern was inspired by Scottish Barns Ness Lighthouse. It was illuminated in 1901 and was operating till 2005. The lighthouse was constructed by the engineer David A. Stevenson and has a typical look for all lighthouses constructed by Stevenson's family. White tower with yellow elements. The pattern is bilingual: Polish and English. This easy paper piecing pattern would be perfect for a summer gift, like a pillow with the name on big blue space on left side!"

I love this little lighthouse block! It would make a great pillow covering or a fantastic little tote bag. I haven't done much paper piecing because all the tiny fabric pieces scare me a bit. Also, my brain tends not to like working in reverse which is what seems to be needed for paper piecing. Does anyone have any advice for a person new to the technique?

Hi Sandi! Nice to hear you like this block! Tiny fabric pieces are easier on paper I think, all you need is to be patient with them ) Working in reverse may be a little uncomfortable. You can try writing some symbols on templates (i.e. R-red, B- background etc.) before you start working to mark which fabric you need to use. I always do like this.
