A really fun way to surprise someone special is by getting crafty with old tshirts and making The Man Quilt. The quilt pattern itself is simple, so it'll fit in easily whether it's going in a bedroom, living room, or somewhere special. Make a unique keepsake quilt for a loved one with their old clothes and expand your quilting abilities with a totally different approach to scrap quilting. What's even better about this pattern is that if you run out of t-shirts or just like the design, you can easily substitute in fat quarter quilt patterns and get the same results.

While I did not make this for my husband, but rather my son, using his old shirts, it has become a treasured article of his. I did use scraps of old material along with it, but it turned out beautiful. Honestly, if he has a son or grandson, it is the perfect treasure to pass down through the generations. The pattern is timeless. I highly recommend this pattern.

This is a great pattern for men or for boys! The color combinations are really endless and if you use fabric you have on hand, especially old clothing, it could be a great "memory" quilt. I have used my husband's old oxford-type shirts in a couple of scrap quilt projects and I like to see those scraps in the finished quilts. I also like that using old articles of clothing is such a nod to our ancestors who never let anything go to waste and used their own "rag bags" to supply themselves with fabric. What else did your relatives make using old shirts or scraps of fabric?

I love this pattern! It's masculine enough for my husband, who I will be making it for.

I'm looking for the quilt I just saw earlier using boxer shorts to make the squares in a quilt. I can't find it again. Can you me please? Thank you. Kim
