Snowfall Lasagna Quilt Pattern

The quick and easy Snowfall Lasagna Quilt Pattern comes with a printer-friendly PDF that you can use as a handy guide. This throw quilt tutorial will show you how to make a fun lasagna quilt; something we are loving at the moment! Lasagna quilts are made out of "noodles" of scraps or jelly strips allowing you to put a real dent in your fabric stash! Adding in a true quilter favorite, snowball blocks, turns this ordinary lasagna quilt into a unique snowfall throw to decorate your home. Once you finish this quilt, it will measure about 50" x 64" and be a cozy addition to any space.

Fabric Requirements

- 40—2 ½" strips (these can be the same color or assorted fabrics)
- 39—2 ½" x 2 ½" snowball squares
- 156—1 ¼" background squares

Quilt Assembly

Make the Snowballs:

- Draw a diagonal line on the back of all the 1 ¼" background squares using a fabric marking pen.

- Place a 1 ¼" background square right-sides-together with a 2 ½" snowball square.

- Stich on the line.

- Repeat with all four corners.

- Trim the squares to ¼" seam allowance as shown.

- Open and press towards the triangles.

- Repeat with all 39 snowball squares, making 39 snowball blocks. They will look like diamond-in-a-square blocks because of the seam allowance. Once they're sewn in the quilt they will be snowballs.

Snowball Block

Sew the Strips:

- Sew a snowball onto the end of all but one strip. Then sew the strips together to make one long strip of strip-snowball-strip-snowball-strip (...).

- Once all the strips and snowballs are stitched together, cut 18" off of one end of the long strip. This will ensure a random placement of your snowballs, rather than a stacked placement.

- You will have a strip that is about 45 yards long. Fold it in half, right sides
together, and sew along one of the long sides. When you get to the end, cut the fold. You will now have a strip that is 4 ½" by about 22 ½ yards.

- Fold in half a second time, just like the first, sewing along one long side and cutting at the fold.

- Repeat a third, fourth, and fifth time. It is okay if you cut through a snowball in the process. The snowballs will be randomly placed.

- Trim up your quilt. It will measure about 50" x 64".

- Quilt and bind as desired
