The beauty of this simple Flowers on the Checkerboard Quilt Pattern is that the design accommodates a number of larger print patterns. Use four patch quilt patterns to cobble together this chic and bold design. Though this quilt certainly looks impressive once finished, it's a great design for quilters who are beginners, or who are simply looking for a quick project that makes a statement. This lovely lap quilt that is quick in assembly and a great style for novices and experienced quilters alike. Break out your loudest prints and try your hand at this basic design.

I like the way this quilt is made, although I wouldn't likely use the colors she did, not because they aren't pretty, but I am just so not into bold colors. I would likely use blue and white with a coordinating flower fabric to replace the Marimekko fabric she used. She is Australian, so the fabric measurements are in metric, so translating them would be a great math lesson. Very pretty and one that probably wouldn't take too long to make!
