I like that this mug rug pattern uses both piecing methods as well as applique. It would be a great project for a beginning quilter to make, since it has a couple different methods and is small size. Birds are so charming and they make the mug rug really special. Great idea for a gift and I like the idea of a stocking stuffer gift as well.
