- Four 2-inch strips of fabric in different colors.
Sew all four of your 2-inch strips together with a quarter-inch seam.
It should look something like this:
Press all of your seams. We recommend pressing all of your seams towards the darkest piece of fabric.
Square off one end of your fabric strips.
Cut your strips into 6.5-inch squares.
Cut until you have four pieces. Lay the pieces out in your block formation.
Sew the top two and bottom two pieces together with a quarter-inch seam allowance.
Press your seams. You'll notice that your seams meet at perpendicular angles between the pieces. When you're pressing, be sure to press away from where all of the seams meet to prevent large clumps of fabric.
Seam both sets of squares together with a quarter-inch seam allowance, making sure that your center seams are nested (going in opposite directions).
Press your remaining seams in opposite directions so your seams nest in a spiral formation around your block.
