For those of you who are unfamiliar with the process of picking out color schemes for a quilt without using old fabrics, Pick Four will teach you the basics of how to get started. The book begins with helpful tips and full color pictures to give you a sense of how you can use the colors you see every day as a guide for choosing your color scheme. Abrey also includes some very useful basics on quilting, and she also answers common questions about the process. Right from the beginning, this book will have you feeling prepared every step of the way to start a new quilting project without worry.
The rest of the book focuses on some of Abrey's patterns which demonstrate clearly how Abrey's 4 color idea can be used in a full range of quilting patterns. Each set of instructions provides you with detailed measurements for fabric and cutting, a recommended skill level, as well as a full list of recommended materials. You'll be able to follow these patterns from one quilt block to a full pattern, and Abrey even includes alternative color patterns for you to try. Every pattern is different, which means you'll be apply to practice the 4 color approach with star quilts, zig zag patterns, and more.
