Triangle Blocks

1. Match up a solid color with each Egg pattern. I matched the solid yellow with the blue Egg, red with green Egg, orange with purple Egg, and blue with red Egg.

2. Sew the solid triangle on the left side of the Egg triangle. Press seams open.

3. Sew the same color solid triangle onto the right side of the Egg triangle. Press the seams open.

Note: When you lay the triangles on top of each other, right sides together, there will be a “V” shape that is made. (The diagram is exaggerated so you can see the “V”) Start sewing in the point of the “V”. This should be a 1/4” seam. There will be a small “V” at the end. Sew out the point of that “V” too.

You will make 8 triangle blocks, 9-patch blocks, and snowball blocks. You only need 7. So you don’t use your least favorite block.

9-Patch Blocks

1. Match up a Check and Winner Circle piece. I matched the purple Check board with green Winner Circle, yellow Check / orange tone, green Check / blue tone, blue Check / purple tone.

2. Sew 3 strips together. Sew the Winner Circle onto each side of the Check and a Check onto each side of the Winner Circle. Iron the seam allowance towards the Check fabric. (diagram #1)

3. Cut the strips into 2” segments. (diagram #2)

4. Switch the middle segments in the sets and sew the segments back together. (diagram #3)

Snowball Blocks

1. Draw a line diagonally across the back of the solid colored 2” X 2” squares.

2. Sew a colored square onto each corner of the 8 – 5” X 5”. Sew along the pencil line.
* Sew the yellow squares onto the blue blocks, red onto green blocks, orange onto purple blocks, blue onto red blocks. All four corners should be the same color.

3. Trim the outside triangles off each, 1/4” from each seam.

4. Iron towards the solid colored square.

Quilt Assembly

1. Sew 7 triangle blocks together in a horizontal row. Remember, you have 8 so discard your least favorite.

2. Sew 7 9-patch blocks together in a horizontal row. Alternate blocks. (ie. First block has 5 Check squares, second has 5 Winner Circle squares, third has 5 Check, etc.)

3. Sew 7 snowball blocks together in a horizontal row.

4. Sew horizontal strips together from top to bottom in the following order:

  • blue 1-1/4” strip
