Circus Baby Quilt Patterns Using Hawaiian Applique
Learn how to make fast baby quilt patterns with circus themes using a Hawaiian applique method. With this applique technique, you'll cut out an elephant or carrousel applique that covers the entire quilt top and fuse it to a plain background. Add some decorative stitching around the edges to secure the applique, and you'll be done with your quilt in just a few hours!

MATERIALS:
- 1-1/4 yards - 44” - 45” background fabric
- 1-1/4 yards - 44” - 45” applique fabric
- Lightweight fusible interfacing for applique fabric
- Coordinating scraps for trim appliques
INSTRUCTIONS:

Press fusible interfacing to back of applique fabric according to instructions.

Fold applique fabric in half, twice. Press folds sharply. You will have a 22” square.

Pin pattern to folded square.

Cut applique strictly along cutting lines, keeping applique in one piece.

Fold and press background fabric in half twice, as with applique fabric.

Unfold background fabric with right side up.

Unfold applique fabric right side up. Match pressed seams of background and applique fabrics from center. Smooth and pin securely.

Sew applique onto background using blanket stitch or other chosen stitches.

Cut out trim appliques (blankets, saddles, head pieces, halter/reins) from fabrics which have fusible interfacing applied to back.

Sew in place, trim with optional embellishments if desired.
- Quilt as desired.
