  2. From the green, lilac, green panels cut four 12-1/2" strips and twelve 2-1/2" strips. From the lilac, green, lilac panel cut twelve 2-1/2" strips. Sew together three each of these strips to make a checkerboard of six strips as shown. You will need four of these.  Put the 12-1/2" strips to one side to be used later.

  3. The 6-7/8" and 3-7/8" squares are all used to make pinwheels. Lay a green and a lilac square with right sides together and mark a line along the diagonal. Sew a 1/4" seam either side of the line and cut along the line. This will give you two half square triangles which can be sewn together in pairs and then fours to make pinwheels. The large one is for the center of the lap quilt and the small ones are for the cornerstones.

  4. That is all the constituent parts of the truffle lap quilt complete, so now you can lay the blocks out ready to sew together. The first and fifth rows consist of a small pinwheel at each end, then a lilac 6-1/2" square, and a checkerboard panel in the middle. The second and fourth rows consist of a lilac square at each end, then a green 6-1/2" square with a three-strip 12-1/2" panel in the middle. The middle row is made using a checkerboard panel at each end, then a three-stripe panel with the large pinwheel in the middle.
