The Easter Parade Lap Quilt is a festive, easy project to add to your sewing for Easter. The simple log-cabin-like construction lets fun Easter novelty fabrics shine. Use the small quilt as an Easter wall-hanging or just as a decorative throw for the holiday.

MATERIALS AND CUTTING DIRECTIONS:
 

  • White fabric - 5/8 yd
    (1) 4-1/2” square,
    (1) 2-1/2" x 24-1/2”,
    (2) 2-1/2” x 26-1/2”,
    (1) 2-1/2” x 28-1/2”
     
  • Light purple toss duckies - 1/3 yd
    (1) 4-1/2” square,
    (1) 3-1/2" x 28-1/2”
     
  • Pink tossed duckies - 1/3 yd
    (1) 4-1/2” x 8-1/2”,
    (1) 3-1/2” x 31-1/2”
     
  • Blue tossed duckies - 1/3 yd
    (1) 4-1/2” x 8-1/2”,
    (1) 3-1/2” x 31-1/2”
     
  • Light green tossed duckies - 1/3 yd
    (1) 4-1/2” x 12-1/2”,
    (1) 3-1/2” x 34-1/2”
     
  • Light blue basket - 5/8 yd
    (1) 6-1/2” x 12-1/2”,
    (1) 6-1/2” x 18-1/2”
     
  • Light pink basket - 1/4 yd
    (1) 6-1/2” x 18-1/2”
     
  • Light green baskets - 1/4 yd
    (1) 6-1/2” x 24-1/2”
     
  • Dark purple duck rows - 1/4 yd (
    1) 4-1/2” x 34-1/2”,
    (1) 2-1/4” x 34-1/2”
     
  • Dark pink eggs tossed - 1/4 yd
    (1) 4-1/2” x 38-1/2”,
    (1) 2-1/4” x 43”
     
  • Dark blue duck rows - 1/4 yd
    (1) 4-1/2” x 38-1/2”,
    (1) 2-1/4” x 43”
     
  • Dark green eggs tossed - 1/3 yd
    (1) 4-1/2” x 42-1/2”,
    (2) 2-1/4” x WOF


INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Sew your white 4-1/2” square to the light purple 4-1/2” square. Press.

  2. Sew this set to the pink tossed duckies 4-1/2” x 8-1/2” strip. Press.

  3. With the pink tossed duckies positioned at the top, sew the blue tossed duckies 4-1/2” x 8-1/2” strip to the left side of set.

  4. Now sew the light green tossed duckies 4-1/2” x 8-1/2” strip to the bottom of set.

  5. Working around the block set counter-clockwise, sew light blue baskets 6-1/2” x 12-1/2” strip to the right side, then the light pink baskets 6-1/2” x 18-1/2” strip to the top, light blue baskets
    6-1/2” x 18-1/2” strip to the left side and the light green baskets 6-1/2” x 24-1/2” to the bottom.

  6. Again, working around the block set counter-clockwise, sew a white 2-1/2” x 24-1/2” strip to the right side, white 2-1/2” x 26-1/2” strip to the top, white 2-1/2” x 26-1/2” strip to the left side and a white 2-1/2” x 28- 1/2” strip to the bottom.
     
  7. Again, working around the block set counter-clockwise, sew light purple tossed duckies 3-1/2” x 28-1/2” strip to the right side, pink tossed duckies 3-1/2” x 31-1/2” strip to the top, blue tossed duckies 3-1/2” x 31-1/2” strip to the left side and the light green tossed duckies 3-1/2” x 34-1/2” strip to the bottom.

  8. One more time around counter-clockwise, sew dark purple duck rows 4-1/2” x 34-1/2” strip to the right side, dark pink eggs tossed 4-1/2” x 38-1/2” strip to the top, dark blue duck rows 4-1/2” x 38-1/2” strip to the left side and the dark green eggs tossed 4-1/2” x 42-1/2” strip to the bottom.

  9. Sandwich quilt top, batting and backing. Quilt.
     
  10. Join binding strips in this order: Dark purple duck rows 2-1/4” x 34-1/2” strip, dark pink eggs tossed 2-1/4” x 43”, dark blue duck rows 2-1/4” x 43”, and dark green eggs tossed 2-1/4” x 52”. Fold strip in half lengthwise and sew to front of quilt counter-clockwise starting at the bottom right edge of the dark purple duck rows strip. Hand stitch binding to the back of quilt.
