Hello! I’m Carol, and FunThreads is my blog. I started blogging so I could share my sewing adventures and inspire others. I want to show that quilting can be anything you want it to be, and you are only limited by your own imagination. I’ve been sewing and quilting for 24 years, but turning my quilt designs into patterns is a newfound hobby.
I love everything about quilting, but my passion is creating raw edge appliqué. There is a bit of my quirky humor in each of the designs. I enjoy creating something that’s just a little bit different than one might expect to see. My most unusual quilting project was “Fascinating;” I used various randomly sized blocks to create an image of Mr. Spock. The goal of the project was to create an optical illusion that would put a dent in my growing fabric scrap stash.
I make quilt pattern tutorials for my blog, and I sell some quilt tops and miscellaneous crafts in my Etsy shop. In my “free time,” I teach children’s sewing classes and make quilts for charity. I also like to take photographs and crochet. Outside of my sewing room, I’m a mother to two daughters, a wife to a wonderful husband, and the pack leader to an energetic dog.
