Shelburne Falls is a folksy new fabric collection from Denyse Schmidt in three different palettes, including Maple, Pussy Willow, and Lilac. The prints range from floral to plaid, with a few graphic prints thrown into the mix as well. In keeping with the Denyse Schmidt Style, Shelburne Falls inspires nostalgia with its fresh take on classic motifs.

Denyse Schmidt designed Shelburne Falls with inspiration from New England folk dance. She named this collection after Shelburne Falls, a small village in Schmidt's home state of Massachusetts. The line includes traditional patterns like small florals, large florals, and intricate plaids set on the bias that are reminiscent of the swirling skirts and dresses traditionally worn for American folk dancing. The two largest prints are lively, colorful florals - one that seems well-suited to dresses and clothing sewing projects and one that has more of a home decor feel. There are also a couple smaller floral prints: a sparse smattering of tiny flowers against a creamy white background, and a tighter, leafier pattern with very little white space. A multi-colored, varied stripe print, an intricate plaid, and a small variation on a check make up the more "masculine" prints in the Shelburne Falls line. The collection also features a few graphic prints, with the most bold being a pattern of squares, each of which is overlapped at one corner with a circle.

This set of ten prints comes in three different colorways, giving the Shelburne Falls collection an abundant 30 different prints in all. The Maple palette is based on a cheerful, light red like the color of a maple leaf in autumn. This red is paired with dark navy and light blue. In the Pussy Willow palette, a sunny yellow is substituted for the red and a mint green is brought into the mix. If you've ever seen the hushed tones of pussy willows in early spring, you'll see understand this palette is perfectly named! The Lilac colorway also incorporates plenty of navy and light blue with the light purple that gives this palette its name.

Shelburne Falls is a gorgeous line for any project you choose to use it in. Whether you are freshening up your wardrobe for spring, making new throw pillows for the living room, or piecing an intricate quilt for the bedroom, this collection offers a fabric that will be just right.
