Looking at the image to the left should be enough incentive to fall in love with the Language of Flowers Block of the Month Quilt Pattern. Designer Kathy McNeil has paired up with American Quilter's Society to provide a stunningly elegant floral quilt that will challenge and inspire quilters of all skill levels.

For those unfamiliar with the Victorian Language of Flowers, certain flowers and floral arrangements bear different meanings. Givers can deliver eloquent messages simply by sending a particular bouquet to a loved one. Many people know that yellow roses indicate friendship, and lilies are appropriate for funerals. I recommend looking up even more flower meanings. Many flowers have multiple meanings, too.

My favorite flowers are poppies, and they often symbolize remembrance. One of the quilt blocks in this pattern features poppies. This particular block, Hope's Promise, includes "Iris for promise, red Poppy for remembrance, and Snowdrop for hope." The other blocks are named beautifully to encompass the flowers and meanings they depict. These titles include Comfort, Friendship, New Beginnings, Never Forget, Innocence, Forgiveness, Secret Love, and Deception. Each block includes three floral symbols that work together to convey the messages they are named for. The oval frames and lace detailing surrounding the flowers creates an intricate and truly elegant look. The pops of color with the flowers combined with the black and white lace detailing create the perfect contrast.

This complete pattern set includes nine patterns with detailed instructions, diagrams for the embroidery accents, border and finishing instructions, and a list of the materials you'll need to purchase separately in order to complete the nine blocks. If you love the look of this pattern, feel interested in the language of flowers, or generally want to try a beautiful new quilt that will challenge you, consider the Language of Flowers Block of the Month Quilt Pattern.
